Another Great Year!

Every year, our PTSA is growing and becoming more active in the school. If you have not yet joined us-please put this on your priority list! Your presence and involvement are vital to Cedar Lane school success and student achievement. When parents are actively involved, students benefit in many ways:

  • Higher grades and test scores
  • Better school attendance
  • More completed homework assignments
  • Better attitudes and behaviors
  • Better chance of enrolling in post secondary education
  • Greater likelihood of graduating from high school

This year, we have many accomplishments to be proud of! Our PTSA:

  • Held a number of fundraising activities to include Innisbrook Gifts and Yankee Candle- HUGE thanks go out to Ms. Castrence for organizing these events as well as to all of the students and parents who participated in these fundraisers.
  • Continued to improve our PTSA Web page
  • Increased school to home communication through more frequent KIT messages and phone calls
  • School Beautification Project –planted shrubs and flowers, trimmed and weeded school grounds. Thanks to our parents who volunteered their time or brought plants- we could not have done it without you all!
  • Three successful evening presentations for parents on the topics of: SSI, SSDI, Guardianship/ Special Needs Trusts, the Risks of Social Media and Emerging Technology and Employment After Graduation.
  • Held our Second Annual Bingo Night which was incredibly well attended and lots of fun!
  • Staff Appreciation Luncheon- Another HUGE thanks to the Stein family for organizing the luncheon and all of the other parents for their donations of time, food and gift cards. This was a very special time for staff and everyone felt VERY appreciated that day!
  • Was again able to award two $400 scholarships to deserving graduating seniors.
    • For the Rising Star Award the Committee chose Jenise S. Jenise is a student who has had to overcome many obstacles and along the way has shown great strength, spirit and perseverence.
    • For the Senior Star Award the Committee chose Joseph A. Joseph has had a very successful career at Cedar Lane as well as in the culinary program at Marshall HS and is planning a career in the field.
  • Provided refreshments for Fall Back-to-School Night.
  • Provided funds to help the school purchase great prizes for students for our end of the year celebration: Cedarfest.
